Out and about… Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty

liberty3Every year we try ( I repeat…we TRY) to go on vacation, to either another country or another state.  This year we decided to stay local and visit places that we have never been before.

Sometimes we spend a lot of money to go on trips far from home when in reality; there are so many places to visit right in the area where you live. Places that probably you never have visited.

Well…We have never been to the Statue of Liberty! Neither my husband, my daughter or myself.  😕

Last week visited it.

It was the perfect trip and to our surprise it was the Statue 130th anniversary.

liberty1The only way to get to the statue is by hoping on a ferry that will take you Ellis Island first, and then to the Statue of Liberty.

liberty4We waited for the ferry at Liberty State Park, New Jersey

liberty2There is security all over the place. By the way, if you decide to visit  the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island you must pass through security screening before boarding any ferry.

liberty7From Liberty State Park you can see the WTC  memorial building…It’s gorgeous!

IMG_4884Is an amazing trip… You get to see boats sailing!

IMG_4869And the beautiful city of New York.

IMG_4880Arriving at the Statue. So many people waiting to get in.

liberty10We learned a lot… Did you know that Statue of Liberty  was a gift from France, given to America in 1886 and that the statue is facing this country?

liberty8

We really enjoyed this trip and now I’m planning our next adventure.  But I don’t know where to go…Any ideas? Please share.

Love,

Johanny

Beautiful! I’ve never visited the Statue of Liberty before! I’d love to go one day. I live all the way out here in Hawaii so it’d definitely be a huge vacation for me lol. Say…. maybe your next vacation could be Hawaii if you guys haven’t visited yet!

It’s always a great idea to be a tourist in your own area! I’ve been trying to keep that mind set since moving back to Ireland. I visited the Statue of Liberty when I was a kid, it was really good.

We’ve never been to NY. What a gorgeous view you had. And I am sure the Statue of Liberty is neat to see in person. So much history there.

I love traveling posts, and I love adventures. I always wanted to go to New York City but I think I could only do it as a day trip. Thanks for sharing your trip! Looks like you had a really great time.
