Disclosure: This is not a compensated post. I was provided with free samples to write a review, however all opinions are my own.

Summer is here! Time for outdoor adventures, beach, grilling and refreshing drinks. And talking about refreshing drinks…I found one that me and my family really enjoy.

LALA’s Greek Smoothies! Yes, that’s right! a Greek smoothie full of protein, calcium and overall great flavor. LALA’s Greek Smoothies are low in fat, they are gluten free and made with real fruit.

Unlike regular yogurt, Greek yogurt is higher in protein, therefore it will keep you full longer.

It has a smooth consistency and it comes in a 6.7 oz. bottle which makes it perfect on the go. Continue reading

Homemade poultry seasoning

I teach a health class and one of the lessons that my participants remembered most is the sodium lesson.

I don’t think they remember the class because I showed them the amount of sodium they probably consume daily or;

because they learned how much sodium they should have in one day. NO…..

I think they remembered it because they tried a salt-free seasoning I made for them!

It is a simple seasoning prepared with different spices and it goes really well with any kind of protein. Continue reading

Out and about… Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty

liberty3Every year we try ( I repeat…we TRY) to go on vacation, to either another country or another state. This year we decided to stay local and visit places that we have never been before.

Sometimes we spend a lot of money to go on trips far from home when in reality; there are so many places to visit right in the area where you live. Places that probably you never have visited.

Well…We have never been to the Statue of Liberty! Neither my husband, my daughter or myself. ? Continue reading

How to make homemade buttermilk.

Buttermilk: is a slightly sour milk used in the preparation of pancakes, and some breads. It does not contain butter and it is slightly thicker than regular milk.

It is GREAT for baking. In fact, the combination of buttermilk and baking powder or baking soda; will make fluffier, tender and tasty treats.

People don’t usually buy buttermilk unless they are preparing an specific recipe. The Problem? We end up with a almost full container of buttermilk sitting in the refrigerator.

But I have a solution for that…Make your own buttermilk substitute!!!!

Easy to prepare and with only TWO ingredients, Hello! you can’t beat that!

here is the recipe:

  • 1 Cup of whole milk or 2% milk
  • 1 Tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar.

Add the lemon juicer or vinegar to the milk. Let it stand for about 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature. The milk will curdle.

Use it in your recipe as you would use buttermilk.

Easy, right?
