In the Dominican Republic the long Easter holiday weekend is usually used to go away with the family. To visit the beaches, balnearios (outdoor natural spas) and rivers are very common for this time of the year. For those who prefer to stay home and do not want to deal with the tumult of people in public places, the Holy week, especially Pascua, is spent with family and friends at home, relaxing or playing Dominó (Dominoes) and eating delicious food after attending church.
Oh how I miss the island life…
Although, We cannot go to the beach here on the tri-state area because it is too cold, we can still enjoy “Pascua” by getting together with families and friends and ofcourse, eating yummy food.

Today I want to share a dessert perfect for Pascua and perfect for sharing during the Holy Week gatherings: Chocolate Mousse parfait with M&M’s®
There is a Latino twist in this dessert, I’m adding galletas Maria (Marie Biscuit or Milk cookies) which are popular and well known in the Latino culture.
Este postre es delicioso! and so easy to make.
All you need is…
- 1 box of instant chocolate mousse mix
- 1 cup of cold milk
- Galletas Maria (crushed)
- Whipped cream (optional)
- M&M’s® chocolates
1-Crushed the cookies in the bag. 2-Beat the chocolate mousse with cold milk 3- when the mixture gets to a thick consistency, it is done. 4-Spoon the cookie bits into small dessert cups 5- add a layer of the chocolate mousse 6-add another layer of cookies and then more chocolate mousse. 7-Add whipped cream and top it off with M&M’s®
I found M&M’s® with beautiful Easter colors plus other candies that I love, like Starburst® Jellybeans, at my local Walmart.
