My favorites things from the 2017 New York Baby Show

This post for my favorites things from the 2017 New York Baby Show is sponsored by Montrends.

The New York Baby show is the largest show for new and expectant parents. Thousands of families come to the event every year to check what’s new for babies, toddlers and even older children.

We attended the show for the first time and enjoy the blogger lounge thanks to Momtrends. At the lounge we enjoyed  a delicious lunch, plus we mingled with other mommy bloggers and their families. The whole event itself was amazing!

Hailey and I sharing our favorite items

The event, organized by New York Family Magazine, consist of a showcase of different brands such as Canon, Seventh generation™, and evenflo® to name a few. At the Baby Show parents get to have a glimpse of what’s new in the baby world.

Today I want to share with you my favorite 3 items (and my daughter’s) at the New York baby show… Believe me, this was not an easy task!

Stuck On You® Bento Boxes and Mini Back Packs: As soon as I saw these cute back packs and bento boxes (I’m featuring the bento box in the picture above) I fell in love. Known for its personalized labels and accessories, Stuck on You is a great gift for babies and older children. My daughter and I loved the idea of the Bento box, which is perfect to carry all her favorites foods.

Dirty Kids Soap Foam and Gel by Dirty Soap Works:  A paraben-free, gluten-free, sulfate-free and phthalate-free colorful soap perfect for the little ones. Kids ( and adults!) can have fun when washing their hands with dirty soap. The dark looking soap turns into a white cleansing foam when washing your hands…and did I tell you it smell yummy? yes it does!

Mabel’s labels®: Always a favorite. These personalized waterproof labels, are perfect for kids clothing, bottles, lunch boxes and even food storage.

Many other brands were at the show such as The SNOO by the Happiest Baby, The NOOBIE Box, Plums Organics… and My 1st Years which gave my daughter a personalized teddy bear!

Overall, this past weekend my family and I had a great time at the New York Baby Show, and I can’t wait for next year!

Savory Mango Salsa

Although Cinco de Mayo is not really a Mexican holiday, I do have to say it is a really good excuse to eat delicious food and appetizers like this savory mango salsa.

La Batalla de Puebla (The Battle of Puebla) was a battle fought on May 5, 1862 near the city of Puebla, Mexico. In reality Mexicans do not celebrate this historical day, however it has become a tradition and good excuse for people to celebrate and eat delicious Mexican food here in the United States.

To join the celebration I made this tasty mango salsa; that by the way, goes very well with chips just like others salsas such as pico de gallo and guacamole.

This recipe is rather simple, prepare it in advance and save it in the fridge for no more than 3 days.

Savory Mango Salsa

Yield about 1 cup

  • 2 Mangoes, diced
  • 1 chile jalapeño, seeded and diced
  • 1/4 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup cilantro leaves,chopped
  • the juice of one lime
  • salt to taste

  • In large bowl, combine all the ingredients and mix well. Taste for salt and add more if necessary. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes. Enjoy with chips or as a garnishment over salmon or tilapia.

Really simple, light and refreshing!

Make it and let’s us know your thoughts!

Felices Fiestas!

Gardening DIY: Tin Can Plant Holders

This shop for Tin Can Plant Holders has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions, ideas and pictures are mine alone. #PureLife35pk #CollectiveBias

Me encanta la jardinería (I love gardening), in fact, before we bought our first home I was always looking for ideas for indoor gardening.  Now that we have a house with a yard, it is easy for us to plant vegetables and fruits that I couldn’t plant before, and even so, I still like to keep small planters inside the house. Small planters serve as beautiful home décor, plus you get to have fresh herbs in your kitchen all year round.

Side note: If working outdoors, keep in mind that during Spring and Summer months it can get really hot. Make sure that you do your gardening early in the morning and always keep yourself hydrated. As a matter of fact, I always have bottles of Nestlé® Pure Life® water on hand for those days when I need to stay in the yard working extra hours.

Since today is all about gardening, I want to share an easy DIY for Tin Can plant holders. These planters are great for the indoors and outdoors. Make them by recycling empty cans of food; you can paint them or add some accents y listo! beautiful planters in no time.

What you need:

  • Empty tin cans (washed and dried completely)
  • Hammer and nail (to make holes)
  • Rope or twine
  • Hot glue gun
  • Hot glue sticks
  • Soil
  • Small plants such as cilantro, tomillo, strawberry etc.

Make them:

  1. Prep the cans by removing all labels and making sure there are no sharp edges and metal shards from opening the can.
  2. Use the hammer to make 4 drainage holes on the bottom of each can.
  3. Using the glue gun, place a bit of glue on the edge of the can and wrap the rope around it until you reach the bottom. Cut the rope and set it with a little bit of hot glue.
  4. Fill the tin can with soil and plant your favorite herb or flowers.

Now, all you have to do is find the perfect spot for your planters!

You can find most of the supplies by visiting Walmart. By the way, I found a great deal for Nestlé Pure Life Water-35 pack! this is how it works…As shoppers, we are receiving a great value by getting 3 more bottles for the same price as the old 32 pack! If the 35- pack of Nestlé Pure Life is not available at your local Walmart, please ask a store manager about getting the product in your area, cause this is a great deal! I mean, you can definitely find Nestlé Pure life 24 pack at, but make sure to visit the store for the 35pk!

Hope you like this idea for DIY-tin can plant holders as much as I do; you will have beautiful plants and herbs inside and outside your home.

Lindos verdad? (Aren’t these cute?)

Remember, now that’s is getting warmer you need to keep yourself hydrated and Nestlé Pure Life is committed to delivering pure, great-tasting water to you and your family; Every bottle is filtered through a 12-step quality process. Pure Life is re-launching in mid-May and will have a new packaging so be on the lookout! Great to stock up for the warmer weather.
